The
team behind last year’s critical success Fatboy come together
again for this C.J Hopkins written play.
Directed
by john Clancy, and featuring David Calvitto as Big Bob, Nancy
Walsh and Bill Coelius as the contestants Maura and Dan Brown and
Mike McShane as the Lovely assistant Vera there is talent in
abundance on stage.
Big Bob runs a popular TV game show, and
Maura and Dan are his contestants. He is initially patronising and
somewhat diva like as he ridicules them, pushing them as far as he
can.
But
then it gets surreal, and for me all the quality of the first
stage is undone as it degenerates into mindless violence, as
‘there are no rules edict really kicks’ in and I mean really.
This
was a well-acted piece throughout, however I really enjoyed the
first 45 minutes and hated the last 30.
