Andy
Smart and Steve Steen are probably both better known for their
great comedy prowess. Andy however was one of the cast of the
phenomenal
'12 Angry Men' at the Assembly rooms last year where he
proved beyond doubt that he can perform in a strait play. Steve
has been demonstrating the art of both straight acting and his
talent in performing monologues regularly at the Fringe over the
past few years.
They
have combined talents in 'The Dumbwaiter' by Harold Pinter, the
ability of both men to make the smallest movement or look
significant add to the enjoyment of the piece.
Not having seen the play before the end was unexpected, yet
with hindsite should not have been.
The basic set adds to the ambiance but it is the talents of
the two performers which shine, even above the script.
