Lucy Foster’s performance using a
variety of theatrical techniques is intriguing. Her starting point is her
concern for global warming and the consequent melting of the ice caps. The
drama of this disaster is seen through the likely extinction of the polar
bear.
She adopts a soft sell approach to
make us appreciate the impending catastrophe by devising powerful images
to portray what words cannot express. The stage creation of an animation
of a polar bear walking across a white landscape of mountains and glaciers
is absolutely stunning.
Her show is not all devoted to
serious thinking. There is a humorous set up with a male volunteer in that
even the most committed environmentalist who is young and attractive does
have other basic urges.
She has succeeded in realising a show both thought provoking and entertaining.*** |
