P.I.E. is an entertaining, tongue in cheek
comedy thriller. The heroes are female private detectives Hatcher
and Velvet. Hatcher is the experienced, street-wise one and Velvet
the enthusiastic but witless new partner.
Liz Hague and Kate Mooney perform their
story, also playing the roles of clients, suspects and villains.
They employ a range of techniques – dialogue, mime, slapstick and
a touch of audience participation.
The story is complex though never
confusing. With so much going on, the timing has to be spot on and
it pretty much is. When
the mystery seems to be solved, there is an added twist and a neat
ending. The humour varies but the story bowls along at a cracking
pace in a good natured way and their performance successfully draws
you in to their make believe world.
