A
frequent claim levied at Fringe shows is that gratuitous nudity is
used to put bums on seats. Anyone expecting this to be maintained in
this production given the subject matter would be disappointed, as
the actors remain fully clothed throughout.
However, the illusion is maintained by the
narrative script and the use at times of very realistic prostheses
as Anna Brook, Emily and writer-director-actor John Keates as Steve
carry out the roles that make up their different relationship.
Although
as already stated the clothes stay on, the sex factor is at times
rather graphically portrayed and as this has a S&M theme,
violence also is quite explicitly enacted, so it would not be for
anyone of less than liberal outlook.
The
play is well staged and both actors are totally realistic in their
roles. The use of radio mikes made the sound crystal clear so every
word and nuance could be heard even by those sitting away from the
on stage action.
A
challenging piece of theatre.
