This tale is reworking of the Greek myth of
Phaedra brought bang up to date to include the likes of paparazzi,
mobile phones PRs, the ‘glamour’ world of Heat magazine and of
course modern costumes as the story of the love triangle between
Phaedra, her husband Theseus and his son Hippolytus.
From the opening moment, until the finale
the eight strong cast serve up a non-stop feast of dance, music,
both recorded and live together with some fine acting, somehow
controlled by the direction of Shoshona Currier.
This New York based company deserve to have
a huge hit on their hands if only for the effort they put into each
performance, and were as purists may not be so happy with the
interpretation, maybe another generation could possibly be made
aware of the classic story through productions such as this.
