The Actas Company present “Dead Man’s
Curve Ball” by D. B. Folkard.
It is 1963, the inaugural meeting of a
support group for teenage victims of tragic automobile accidents. Is
all as it seems?
As Laura (Michelle Faure), Betty (Sarah
Canning), Frank (Stefan Beckford or Matt Priest) and Jan (Tom
Powell) go through their personal tragedies coincidences begin to
become apparent. The
councilor Barbara (Carla Best) seems not to be as impartial as she
should be.
With the assistance of pop hits from the
period and other members of the company (Giles Daubeny, Camille
Sautereau-Chandley, Imogen Hepburn, Matt Wakeford and Stefan
Beckford) we see playbacks of each accident.
Well written this clever idea has potential
in many other situations. The cast all stay in character and seem to
be enjoying themselves. It is enjoyable if also thought provoking so
see this show if you can.
