This
play is a translation of Moliere.s Les Preieuses Ridicules and is
actively staged by Slingshot Theatre.
Wannabe
aristocrats, cousins Magdelon and Cathos are being wooed by various
suitors, while being 'aided' by parents trying to get them to act as
normal teenagers and an inept maid.
I
must admit that I found this play hard work. I'm not too sure what the
translator or the company were trying to achieve with this, but I was
confused to say the least, and I was not alone, judging by the comments
I heard in leaving the theatre.
The
actors did give convincing performances and remained in character
throughout and the simple but effective set did its job.
