First the
ending. There are happy endings, sad endings, even bizarre endings but
the ending to this show is as spectacular as I have ever witnessed. Mime
clowns play the part of a wild family consisting of a romantic pregnant
mother, the alcoholic husband and their 4 children - 2 strange girls, 1
demonic boy and the crazy baby.
There is
a loose story line but it is the action that counts. The fact that the
performers come from Russia matters little because good visual humour
needs no translation. All manner of family situations are demonstrated.
The timing between the music and sound effects enhances the physical
action. A vast number of props are used which must be a nightmare to
gather up and prepare for the next show.
Scene
after scene unfolds with all or various members of the family. The
audience is brought into the action in a good natured way and at times
the whole theatre is the set. As the show draws to a close a darker side
takes over. The husband leaves the family. The children are distraught,
but the show ends on a happy note with the return of the father and the
spectacular euphoric ending.
This is a
show for all ages. Children will enjoy the show as will those adults who
have something of the child still lurking in their personality.
