This
piece of dance / physical theatre was created and performed by Anushie
Yarnell and was originally commissioned by the European Union to mark the
EU expansion.
Some
of her advanced publicity says 'her shows are impossible to label' and
'A corporeal appatition of female form, whose animalistic and monstrous
characteristics reveal her to be other than human.'
I
don't totally know about
that, but I do know that we were treated to an thoroughly absorbing hour
as Ms Yarnell performed her utmost, using all of her space and more, accompanied
by a strange and unusual soundtrack and a multitude of props.
Dance
is not my most favourite medium of theatre, I confess to being somewhat
of a philistine. If the show had been in the dance &
physical section of the brochure I would probably not attended
and in doing so would have missed what was truly an experience.
