Can't
Pay? Won't Pay! is a Dario Fo play that has been translated by Lino
Pertile, and is given an airing in the Fringe this year.
Two couples, Antonia and Giovanni, Lucy Murphy
and Brian Stewart, and Margherita and Luigi, Anna Chojnicka and Paul
Russell are caught up in this Milan based comedy where rising prices,
poor wages, stolen food, high principals, phantom pregnancies, and
strangely similar looking policemen seem to be the norm.
Directed
by Lucy Smith, who also plays the policemen, this somewhat surreal romp,
complete with stolen rabbit heads, bird seed and dog food also as
constituent factors is an absorbing piece of late afternoon theatre.
