Watson
HWS Rembiko Project
Several soldiers’ wives have been found murdered but why?
Tessa Williams as a reporter begins researching into this very question, after the latest murder was videoed, by a friend of the deceased Carla (Elise Ma). Carla however can’t help other than providing the video evidence, as she can’t talk. As her investigation develops she is told by her editor (Olivia Steinberg) to drop it, as it is not acceptable in the present political climate.
Mary (Juliet Fraser) has been seeing an army Captain (Daniel Kromolowski) whilst her partner Watson (Adam Cochran) is on active service. When Watson returns the situation becomes strained especially as he seems to be ill. In the course of her investigations the reporter interviews Maggie (Danielle Valner) Mary’s best friend, Kathy (Valerie Steinberg) another of the friends who live in the complex as well as his Sergeant (Samuel Blomquist), his field buddy Andrews (Andrew Burten) and finally his army Doctor (Olivia Sandoval). She builds up a picture of Watson but what caused him to kill Mary in such a bloody manner leaving her defenceless baby.
Is it just stress and jealousy, the drugs pumped in to the soldiers by the army, is it the so-called ‘Gulf War Syndrome’, the chemical warfare used against the troupes in action or could it be something more sinister?
You’ll just have to go and see the show! Be quick as it only has a few performances left!
This is superbly acted by the entire cast yet I feel I must say how much I enjoyed the portrayal of Watson by Adam Cochran. Adam’s mood swings from normal to deepening paranoia were both believable and extremely moving, this young man has a talent which with nurturing, could if he wanted it lead to a career in the performance arts.
