Marcia's
massage is set in the establishment of The Zone of Pleasure, whose
Madam, err, I mean owner is expecting a new delivery of ladies to
work in her parlour.
These
turn out to be Eastern European who have no English, or 'papers'
either. What ensues seems to be an amalgam of styles Whitehall
farce meets Carry On meets Benny Hill.
The
play is written as a comedy with no underlying message, and it
certainly succeeds on that level, I feel if it was 30 minutes
longer the characters could have had been give more life as I felt
there was definitely more mileage in most.
Julia Stephenson is excellent as Madam
Marcia, her maid Estelle played by Jackie Pearce has some
wonderful lines and she really could be developed further. General
dogs body Llew, Attila Kent is excellent and the 'new girls'
although have hardly any lines perform their 'business' like pros.
The
other characters are really no more than cameo roles but all added
to the enjoyment of the piece.
So
if you would like a 116 or maybe a 64 in the new turbo spa then
this a Zone of Pleasure well worth visiting.
