This
play set it the north east of England gives a somewhat worrying
expose on the lives of four hormone driven young teenagers.
Written by Paul Charlton and directed by
Marc de Launay and is performed by four final year students of the
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Jill
played by Catriona Molver is sexually experienced and tries to
explain to the more naive Rachael, Alison O'Donnell the 'rules' of
dating. Matthew Neal plays the confident and allegedly experienced
Connor while Paul Charlton plays the more sensitive Johnny.
To
this potent mix, the dreaded cheap alcohol is added and
relationships develop, not necessarily the way that appeals to all
concerned.
Each
character is beautifully written and how these 'much older' actors
are totally believable as fourteen year olds is a credit to their
talent, I could believe it would not have been too difficult for
them to act being drunk.
A
superb play, and if this is the standard of actors being produced
by this esteemed organisation then I think it's safe to say that
the future is very rosy indeed.
