Bablake
are somewhat of a Fringe institution having been regular
performers since 1987 and although I haven't seen all of the
productions then one's I have seen are consistently of a very high
standard, and this was no exception.
This Alan Bennett 'farce' has everything,
lecherous doctors, domineering wives, dowdy sisters, false boobs,
'wet' clerics and a cross dressing cleaner are just a few of the
devices that punctuate the performance, that, despite the limited
space and none existent exits this play is total action and very
tightly directed.
All
eleven of the cast played their roles with style but perhaps the
cleaning 'lady' Mrs Swabb played by Alex Smith stole the show.
An
excellent piece of afternoons fare, take at least once before
dinner.
