With a cast that can boast a possible Pop
Idol (recently selected), and two others who have toured with
Peter Bowles and Clive mantle the pedigree of the performers is
impressive. The company first visited the fringe in 1995 and I saw
and enjoyed their production of Alice
in Wonderland in 2001.
The Frog Prince is a combination of the
title fairytale mixed in with the Sleeping Beauty and little
excerpts of one or two others blended in for good measure.
It is very well performed by the seven strong cast although
the words of several of the songs were difficult to hear. The
cleverly designed costumes in some ways more than make up for this
and everyone manages to stay in character well, although the
characters change from scene to scene. The pace of the show will
probably quicken as the run progresses.
This
enjoyable fun performance is probably more for the adults and
slightly older children youngsters might love it too.
