Drama Queen
A1 Theatre Productions
A1 are a young theatre group based in York who I first became aware of last year when I saw their highly acclaimed production of Moll Flanders. This years offering, Drama Queen is written and directed by John Cooper and inspired by the music of Queen.
The story is that of Jude and her three alter- egos Mandy, Lola and Luce respectively played by Angharad Ormond, Sarah Crompton, Stacey Johnstone, and Felicity Skiera.  The smaller roles of Sophie a casting director (Zoe Roberts) and Barry, Alan Crompton) complete the cast.
From inauspicious beginnings Jude rises through Am-Dram, theatre school, rep and then to stardom . It is at that point that tragedy happens.
This is an excellent piece of theatre. The main characters sing and dance well, the choreography by Eric Carpenter is imaginative and well executed, and there is the added bonus of Queen music.
They are playing in quite a small venue, tickets are going very well and you certainly would not want to miss out on these Killer Queens.
