Digging for Fire
Laboratorium - 33
Laboratorium-33 are a theatre company that are never afraid of performing theatre that could never in the wildest dreams be called mainstream if the previous productions that I have seen are anything to go by. They usually combine elements of performance art, physical theatre, live deejay and often A.V. effects as well.
In this years performance Irina, played and co directed by Laura Cameron-Lewis falls in love with Alexander, Simon Tchernaik, during the summer when everything changes. With the threat of war the couple escape to the city hiding in a basement, but news of the atrocities reach them still and Alexander has family pressure to join the fighting.
This story written by David Priestly is quite traumatic and violent and both actors give their all in their intense performances. This was a really strong piece of theatre and I would recommend you get a ticket soon as it is receiving rave reviews all-round and it is a small venue, they will not be available for too long.
