STAG
stands for student theatre at Glasgow make their first venture to
the Fringe with their interpretation of The Canterbury Tales
entitled Up the Chaucer, rather an ambitious project it seems in
less than an hour, but they certainly managed to perform a much
shortened version very successfully.
Set
in a library with a variety of 'readers', we meet with a student
who is struggling to understand Chaucer’s story and with the
assistance of the librarian and the patrons, the characters come
to life as farcical, at times almost pantomime like, realtors of
numerous tales (abridged).
The cast certainly give their all in this
piece and all six performers, Neil Simpson, Melanie Evans, Fiona
McPherson, Thom Walker, Shona Gillies and Liam O'Driscoll each add
their talents to ensure this is the success it deserves to be.
