This show is exactly what it says it is,
an Audition for a part in a new play to be performed on Saturday
16th August.
Run on ‘Big Brother’ meets ‘Pop
Idol’ lines, the initial auditionees are slowly, every night,
cut down in numbers until the final two, who are then voted for by
the rest of the audience.
On the day I saw the show the part on
offer was that of ‘Street Boy or Girl’, and the four victims,
sorry volunteers were; Lyndsey from Edinburgh, Rachel from Oxford,
Wayne from Weston-Super -Mer and Ian also from Edinburgh.
Put through their paces by Edwina Mc
Shouty, back stage Simon and the judging panel of Derdra Flood and
Geoff Mooney. Different trials ranged from having 15 seconds to
make us laugh, improvisation sections using suggestions from the
audience, visits to the Ranting Room, an internal vote by
contestants and a live mobile phone vote.
To fully appreciate this show getting to
see one or more audition as well as the final play would be ideal.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the
winner? Oh sorry!
On the Night Rachel narrowly won beating Ian after a second
audience vote.
Congratulations and good luck for the
final performance on Saturday 16th August.
