Apparently the B-boy ensemble are world
famous having been champions of the ‘Battle of the Year 2005’
and won the ‘2006 Tap Water Award for Dance’. Thanks to this
interesting and intriguing show at the C venues, they are now
becoming known to Edinburgh Fringe Festival viewers.
Basically the story of Odysseus is brought
up to date with interactive video footage, modern music, break
dance, hip-hop, dance fights, quick changes and a slight Spin on the
story of the Trojan Wars!
Apollo the Sun God rewards Odysseus the
responsibility of guarding ‘The Spin’ but warns him that if he
should loose ‘The Spin’ great woes will befall him!
Guess what? ‘The Spin’ escapes and
Odysseus and his companions travel through time and space to arrive
at ‘Apollo’s City of Music’ a dingy pub in the heart of Fringe
Festival Edinburgh, where Apollo plays the saxophone. ‘The Spin’
slips into an empty drinks can, into a baseball, a football, a
basketball, an apple etc and Odysseus and his companions follow,
splitting up in to various directions to have a greater chance of
success.
Told mainly through the video display, the
music and superb dance, but to get the best out of the show sit on
one of the first two rows or you could miss out on quite a lot.
Hopefully this brilliantly talented group
will be back at the Fringe in the future they are such a talented
bunch with great writers and unusual ideas it will be interesting to
see what they come up with next.
