Cirque Surreal

Cirque Surreal is described as a dynamic fusion of traditional circus skills, modern dance, drama and humour, but it’s so much more than this.  Cirque Surreal is a visual feast encompassing some of the most awe-inspiring and elegant performances I’ve seen this Fringe.
The production follows the paths of five voyagers, each wanting to gain recognition in a developing global community.  This storyline allows a unique celebration of varying cultures and skills, all of which are thoroughly entertaining.  There are a range of performances set to take your breath away, from beautifully choreographed acrobatics performed with ease and grace 40 feet in the air to juggling which involves a command over footballs that would make Beckham envious.  The high point for me, however, was watching Nikolay Kakralolev and Konstadin Popov on the gigantic revolving Wheel of Death.  This act is literally death-defying and as the performance gathered pace it was all I could do to stop myself from falling off the edge of my seat.  Astounding stuff which had the big top thundering with applause.
Young and old alike will find something to enjoy in this show so take a chance to see it while you can. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else on the Fringe.
