A
Cinderella story with no Fairy Godmothers and no Buttons!
Unbelievable but true.
Well
the Fairy Godmother appears to Cinderella (Sarah Lark) in a dream and
Buttons is replaced by a rogue Footman (Alastair Watson) who has
designs on Cinders. Her two step sisters Catalina (Gemma Whelan) and
Madagascar (Sara Pascoe) are not the most beautiful girls in the
world but are very selfish, extremely silly and simpering.
Cinderella's only friend is a Rat (Jessica Fostekew or James Witt)
who keeps her company in the kitchen.
As
for the prince he has vanished, he is however expected to be at the
grand ball to be held one year and one day since his disappearance.
I
adored Karina Wilson's adaptation of this well loved fairytale. it
is simplified and modernised and the kids in the audience were
mesmerised. It is
cleverly staged and directed as well as beautifully performed by
this extremely talented cast. Who also present the ever popular
"Shakespeare for Breakfast"
Two
very different shows one amazingly talented company get to see both
if you can and children are not compulsory at Cinderella!
