Revolution: Sex Dance and Rock 'N' Roll
Show'n off productions
I had heard nothing but great things from the public who had seen “Revolution” but some of the national press slated it.  Personally I thought it is just amazing.
Everyone raved about ‘Riverdance’ and the other dance shows developed from this idea “Revolution” grabs it and drags it screaming into the 21st Century.
Joel Hanna, Karen Pitkethy and Michael Schulster each having their own individual dance style but together they have created “Revilution”.  Joel Hannah started doing Philipino folk dancing aged 5, and then went on to Irish dance, he also plays a mean guitar and sings well.  Karen has Scottish roots but this hasn’t taken anything away from her spectacular flamenco style.  Michael’s multi talents range from his tap dancing, guitar playing, singing through to his unusual method of playing a drum kit and writing the songs in the show, he also longs to be a Rock Star.  They are all extremely talented individual’s yet together they set up the catalyst which creates “Revolution”.
The band consists of Jon DeRosa on vocals and guitar, Marc Levine on drums and percussion, Lech Jarowzsevski lead guitar and Brendan Benoit bass guitar. They play various rhythms for the dancing and back the few songs performed. Jon tells us the background story to the three main dancers as each one displays their own specialty.
The full cast includes; Ben Manners, Brock Jellison, Mike Warshaw, Kelly Sneade, Sarah Longworth, Jennifer Gainey, Euella Stewart, Alana Mullen and Danielle Eagles.
The production had almost every member of the audience screaming cheering and clapping throughout the show, the sheer physical power, drive and obsession of each performer seemingly dragging us into become part of this spectacle. I feel you couldn’t take the rock band away from the dancers or vice versa as they are fused together in creating this phenomenon.
This is definitely one of the exciting finds of the fringe and deserves to go on and conquer the world!
