Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac

Like most people if asked what numbers the band Fleetwood Mac perform their chart topping hit ‘Albatross’ is the one which springs to mind.  I was looking forward to seeing ‘Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac’ during the ‘Classic Hits Tour’ to be reminded of more of their music and wow what an evening.
The creation of the tribute band ‘Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac’ seem to be hidden in the mist but seem to have been going at least 11 years. This group of superb musicians treated us to a fabulous evening of brilliant music.
Don’t take my word for it as one4review friend and regular contributor Stuart McNiff was also at the gig and his review follows.
Fleetwood Mac’s music spans more than four decades. Formed in London in 1967 by Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green and Bob Brunning they made their live debut at the prestigious Windsor Jazz & Blues Festival on the 12th August 1967. Over the next 40 years and many different band line ups they created rock history and are perhaps more famously known for their iconic albums of the 70’s & 80’s Rumours, Tusk, and Tango In The Night.
Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac are a fantastic 100% bona fide recreation of this legendary band’s music. On Sunday evening at The Alhambra Dunfermline they proved that it’s not about coming on stage and looking like the band, It’s very much about recreating the music of Fleetwood Mac.
From the opening number “ Rhiannon” they moved through the extensive back catalogue featuring “Everywhere” “Sara” “Little Lies” ”Peacekeeper” “I don’t want to know” stopping of to deliver a fantastic version of  the Stevie Nicks song “Has anyone ever”. Credit must go to the sound guys who produced the vocals crisp and clear with Louise Rogan giving a very accurate rendition of this haunting song.
The first act closed with “Isn’t it midnight” featuring Alan Hughes on lead guitar delivering the Lindsey Buckingham solo to 100% accuracy.
The second act began with a tribute to the early days with music which would have originally featured Peter Green, who was only with the band for just over to years but left them classic songs such as “Black Magic Woman” “I need your love” and the mystical, timeless “Albatross”
Special mention has to go to new members of the band Mike Lennon and Ben Hughes who did an excellent acoustic set within this section of the show.
Moving further up the back catalogue the band were rejoined on stage by the ladies Louise Rogan and Amanda Kosadinov to deliver “Gypsy”  “You make Loving fun” “Dreams” “Song Bird” “Second Hand News”  “Big Love” to finish the second set with the biographical “Chains” .
Returning to the stage for two encores the audience were on their feet for “Go your own Way” and “Don’t Stop”.
At £20 this seemed a high ticket price for a tribute band, but having witnessed their performance I have to admit that it represented very good value for money, the sound was crystal clear, the musicianship was excellent, the audience loved it and I’m sure that the next time Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac come to town tickets will be snapped up very quickly. If you get the opportunity to catch this fabulous band it could just be one of the best gigs you’ve been to for a very long time.
