Ed Byrne - DVD |

Ok what do you do over a festive period when you are under the weather and it is 6inches deep with freezing snow outside? This year I laughed a lot thanks to ITV’2’s Pantomime “Aladdin” and BBC1’s “Live at the Apollo” on Christmas Eve. On Boxing Day Geoff and I watched 107 minutes plus extras of our new DVD “Different Class”.The link ‘Ed Byrne’!It is not often we diverge from reviewing live performances with the occasional film but why not DVD’s. Actually this year that could take quite some time as we got 7 Comedy and two Music DVD’s plus one Comedy CD (just a few hours watching ahead when live performances are scarce).Back to the gorgeous and talented Ed Byrne, I may have seen the whole show “Different Class” four times in total now but am still hearing and seeing new things. The show has developed since The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2008, then we saw it on tour in Kirkcaldy March ’09 and again in Dunfermline November 2009, the DVD being recorded live in Glasgow between the previous two dates. Why watch it so often you may ask? Live the show varies with each audience he reacts to on DVD I have Ed captured in time ready to make me laugh whenever I want to. The advantage of the recorded version over the original Fringe show is that you also get Ed’s warm up section as well as the actual show making things doubly enjoyable. As for the contents despite having seen numerous snippets on the various TV appearances he has had over the past year, so far I just can’t get enough and would give his DVD ***** brilliant as usual and I look forward to Fringe 2010 when I hope Ed Byrne will be back where he belongs performing at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival! |
