Once
again I am in the situation “what can I say about Craig Hill, I
haven’t said before?”
I
don’t want to seem biased, but suppose I am really!
I
find Craig a superb comedian, he always makes me laugh and he is a
really nice person. It is
obvious I am not alone in these opinions if the audience in the Carnegie
Hall Dunfermline on Friday 8th February are anything to go
by. From the second he first comes on to the stage dancing wildly to
‘The Scissor Sisters’ “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” to his final
‘sports dancing’ he had us all either in the palm of his hand or
swinging along on the tassels of his sporran. The way some of the ladies
in the audience were laughing and the product promoting Craig was doing,
Tenna Lady should sell their products at his venues and give him
a share of the profits.
People
ask me why I go back time and time again? That’s easy! Despite the
fact that the last three times I have seen Craig his show has been
called “Makin a Big Song N Dance”, the basics of the show have been
exactly the same, but the performances have been vastly different. Craig
feeds off his audience, relying on their participation and feedback. He
thinks on his feet and develops fast relationships with his audience,
particularly his front row but also with those he can see and hear. His
unscripted improvised interactions make each show totally unique and
this for me is a great part of his charm and attraction.
Probably
just over half the audience had seen Craig live before, of the others
many had seen him on TV and those who were unaware of him will surely
never forget him. Listening
to other audience members both at the interval and at the end every
single comment was positive and most people were saying how much they
were looking forward to being able to see him again.
As
I seem to be getting known as ‘Craig Hill’s Official Stalker’ I
embrace my designation and occasionally wear a bright pink T-shirt
declaring my status in life. This leads to people asking me what Craig
is doing next. Check out his website www.mrcraighill.com
for further information. It
is less than two weeks till both Geoff and I go to see him at The Stand
Comedy Club in Edinburgh on Tuesday 19th February at the
relaunch of ‘OOT II’- The Second Coming. For more information on
this see www.thestand.co.uk.
Craig
is the crusader for comedy his knack for knockabout knavery is certainly
not kitsch nor out of kilter but it should be his kismet to become the
well kent kilted kinetic king of krazy comedy.
