Rob Deering  'Charmageddon'

On our third night in a row at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh we are once again in the situation where Geoff has seen the comedian and I hadn’t.  Reprieving his 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival Show ‘Charmageddon’ Rob Deering is in the middle of a UK tour and obviously loving it even if it meant he started off his birthday on the overnight train from Edinburgh to London. Yes it is Rob’s birthday today 28th November, “Happy Birthday Rob”!
His show is very aptly titled ‘Charmageddon’, Rob oozes charm and his comedy can definitely be said to have a certain attraction, he is fascinating and is able to please his audiences, as for the Armageddon, not perhaps the scene of the final battle between good and evil, but the start of widespread destruction between Geoff and myself in the battle between us as to who gets the chance to review him in the future.
Rob is one of those very clever cerebral comedians who not only make you laugh but also make you thing about things, he also manages to include some quiz questions making the show a bit of a game as well.  He is a self-confessed frustrated would be musician, he is a wizard on the guitar and with the use of his loop machine makes some superb sounds. These vary from simple music from TV adverts played in a huge variety of styles, to complicated Rock riffs.  His intellectual comedy, musical mastery, quality quick quiz quotes and his cute vibrant personality blend together in a show which is hilarious, quirky and well worth repeating over and over again.
His signature finale is getting his audience to join him in playing air-guitar just before the show finishes.  See Geoff’s review of Rob Deering’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival Version of ‘Charmageddon’. Once again thank you for a great show Rob and Happy Birthday!
