It has seemed to be ages and ages since Geoff
and I have enjoyed seeing “Beyond the Barricade”
with founder members David Fawcett and Andy Reiss. Having first met Andy
in ‘Les Miserables’ in Manchester April 1992, it always seems like
seeing old and very special friends. I discovered it has only been 3
years, (30 months far too long). To return with a sell-out show at
‘The Carnegie Hall’ this show obviously has a huge following.
David and Andy are as always joined
by two very beautiful and extremely talented young ladies, this current
line-up includes the return of gorgeous petite brunette Katie Leeming and
the inclusion of stunning blond, American Meshell Dillon. This quartet
sing numbers from, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked,
Evita, Spamalot, We will Rock you, Miss Saigon, The Lion King an of course
Les Miserables. Although the musicals, Chicago, West Side Story and Blood
Brothers are on the programme selection we just ran out of time and they
were not included. If these four good-looking, superbly talented
performers sang for hours and hours it still would not be long enough and
they could never cover all the shows we love.
As with any main event there is a
wealth of talent and experience surrounding and assisting the main
performers and in this case we have Russ Kennedy – Bass Guitar,
Ali Van Ryne – Drums, David Lane – Keyboards, Trevor Heyworth –
Sound and Ed Railton – Lighting (some of whom we have met before).
The Gang have a new CD out although
this unfortunately does not include Meshell but we have been assured this
should soon be rectified with a new recording well on the way.
We are still patiently awaiting for a compilation of numbers and
variety of stunning females to be recorded on DVD so that we can feast not
only our ears but our eyes. Please
Please Please do not leave it as long till we see you again! Meanwhile
