Girl group, The Occasions, provided the
opening act. They displayed a wide repertoire, embracing the
60’s and 70’s through to Girls Aloud and The Dixie Chicks.
They have a full sound and each of the three girls can take the
lead vocal. They threw in a bit of banter which is a part of their
act they have the comedic talent to develop.
After a short interval we had the main
act of the evening 'Mad
Mark Roberts'.
After
a number of years appearing in Gran Canaria, Mark Roberts is a
fresh talent on the British comedy scene. From the moment he first
appears, he has the stage presence to take the audience with him
all the way through to a hilarious finale and powerful encore.
His humour, built around his experiences
in the holiday industry and the superiority of women over men,
produces laughter in abundance. His timing and movement are superb
in what is a high energy performance. The air of innocence he
portrays allows him to get away with material which is right on
the edge, but sharply and accurately observed.
He performs several well known songs (and
he does have a strong singing voice) replacing the original lyrics
with his own versions. For instance, Cliff Richard’s ‘Summer
Holiday’ received an unexpected and totally non P.C. treatment.
Mark
is a polished yet natural comedian who leaves an audience wanting
more – a thoroughly enjoyable performance.

at the Carnegie Hall Dunfermline Fife on Wednesday 8th
