When circuses were the lifeblood of some
families, when audiences equaled living well and empty tents
starvation.
We meet
Bernie MacFee, his family and faithful performers, Lawrence
Sorrento as MacFee, Pippa Evans ,his wife Alina and Victoria
Robertson his daughter Anya. Life is slow for the MacFees and
Circus so they decide to audition for a new act, out of the blue
appears Joseph Finelli, Spencer James, of the high flying Finelli
family. After the death of his parents, Finelli moves to America.
He is taken on as the star attraction and works on a routine with
Anya. Anya was part of her husband Sam's (Neil Watson) Knife
throwing act but had always practiced the high wire and trapeze.
As Finelli and Anya grow together as partners and emotionally
Sam’s jealousy multiplies.
This
musical has interesting characters, a twisting plot, good musical
numbers, the smell of the grease paint and the roar of the crowd.
A company of twelve very good performers and a decent script
To
experience the thrills of the circus and discover the ending go to
see the Sawdust Circle.
