The
Young Pleasance Company are staging this new Jazz Musical in the
Pleasance Grand, which probably is the largest stage on the
Fringe. Just as well, the cast numbers about fifty, yes 50, and
they actually construct a scaled down version of a bus on stage in
the midst of this.
I must confess that although I love
musical theatre, but jazz doesn't really do it for me, but the
talent on display, fine singing, acting with some energetic and
clever choreography certainly kept the attention throughout.
The
story, set in the mid twenties follows the change of very much
working class girl and the changes in her life on gaining a
scholarship to Oxford.
Things
come to a head during the General Strike that leads to conflicts
between her roots and her current life, but to find out, o buy
your ticket foe a bus trip like you've never been on before.
