Take
a young angst ridden teenager, longing to be in with the in crowd
but not quite on the ball. Sammy
McGowan as Joseph Schmelnick is this young man, the bright spark
on his horizon is the fact that he is going to summer camp where
he can invent a new persona.
Summer
camp is all he wants it to be, he is king of the crowd, has the
girls falling over him but is he happy. The other guys start to
dislike him because of the girls hanging round him. The only girl
he wants to talk to thinks him an airhead. why does he always want
to be 'Anyone but me'.
This
cleverly written musical brings out the best and worst in
teenagers. The cast some of which play two characters oozing
enthusiasm and all have good voices and are able to cope with the
choreography.
An interesting fun show which deserves
more than its five presentations on the fringe.
