Little
Shop of Horrors seems to be on the Fringe in at least one guise or
another every Fringe, but that does not make it an easy show to
sell as everybody and their Granny have seen it before so how to
do it differently becomes as challenge, and challenges are what
this company thrive on, if there is a twist available they'll find
it.
Everyone
must know the story, nerdy Seymour, James Lent, discovers a
strange and mysterious plant that basically saves Mushniks flower
shop from closing and brings him fame and the love of Audrey,
Becky Brown, but at what cost?
Unlike previous Hamstrings
productions the depth of good singing voices was not so much in
evidence this year but the two singers, Rachel Brown and Amy
Dickinson were wonderful.
The
choreography was well thought out and added to the quality of the
performance.
Audrey
II, Luke Conlon, was menacing and well worked and the expansion of
the plant, although used in other shows I've seen still intrigues.
Over
all a well worthwhile show and good performance.
