In
this their Silver Jubilee Year on the Fringe Leicestershire Youth
Arts are back with their normal programme of six shows that cover
the whole gambit of genres and as always turn in quality
performances.
One
of the performances on offer this year is the Stiles and Brown
musical Honk! which is based on the Hans Christian Anderson story
of the Ugly Duckling.
The
cast of nine perform the roles of ducks, swans, geese and a cat
with the typical verve one has come to expect. They are well
drilled and move around there confined space with ease.
If there is any sight
question to be asked then it comes to the singing. Although there
are a numbers of excellent voices in the company, there are also a
couple that do not make the grade, and all struggle at times to be
heard over the rather too loud pianist.
The
set design, as normal, is immaculate. Who ever designs these years
in, year out deserves a special thanks.
This
certainly a good way to start off your Fringe day!
