That's Life
Front Porch Theatre
This new musical has religious overtones from start to finish.
The cast of superb singers tell the story of Joe who is killed by his amp whilst playing his guitar at a gig. Despite the pep talk by Death and the self-written pamphlet she offers, he won’t believe he has died.
Apparently he is permitted to take someone with him to speak (in his defense) on his behalf in front of god at his last judgment.
Who will he get to vouch for him?  Has he lived a good enough life to be exalted or will he be condemned? Will his best friends on earth go with him or will any of the other characters we meet be the ones?
The message put over in this new musical is not too in your face, but certainly makes you think!
The set is fairly basic but imaginatively used and the choreography enjoyable. The performers all have great voices that certainly enhance the musical numbers.
I hope people are not put off by the religious overtones as this is in the veins of Godspell and Superstar, without quite as many bible references.
Superb show! Well written and beautifully performed.
