Schwartz it all about
Louder Than Words
Performing the show tunes of Stephen Schwartz in a fringe show provides you with a wide selection of different moods and tempos to play with, but how to perform them without it being just number after number?
I know! Write you own show!
This is what John Cusworth has very successfully done in "Schwartz it all about" which he co-wrote with Mark Powell. They have used a variety of numbers from shows both very well known to almost forgotten and blends them into the story of the changing relationships within a group of friends.
Part of the fun in this show is not who’s doing what where with whom but what song are they going to sing and how are they going to present it. Numbers like ‘All for the best’, ‘Day by Day’ and ‘Turn back O Man’, to mention only those taken from “Godspell” will never quite be the same.
The fact that John and the other performers Camilla Bard, Carmen Cusack, Peter Eldridge, Vicki Kruger and Andy Mace are all extremely talented and have a wealth of experience behind them is obvious, as is the fact that they seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves as do the small band tucked away at the back of the stage.
I sincerely hope this gets into the West End as it deserves to I can also see small amateur companies clambering to get the rights to perform this show.
I would like to ask the company if there is room at the back for one small one to nip in and see the show again before the end of its run?
