Fringe Musical  2003

Honk
Hot Box Productions
Hot Box Productions have been responsible for some great Fringe musicals over the past three years since its formation in 2000. In 2001 they gave us “Closer than Ever” in 2002 it was “Side by Side by Sondheim” and this years tasty offering is “Honk!”
They have brought together a cast of 13, a band of four and several ancillary staff. The experience of the cast varies from Fringe virgins to Fringe veterans, all of which have a love of the theatre and great talent.
The show itself is fun, slick, beautifully performed and staged. Costumes and costume changes are numerous and varied without detracting from the production. Everyone in the audience seemed to be having a great time.
Of the actors Cat (Steven Crawford), Ida (Sharon Osdin), Bullfrog (Damian Sandys) and last but definitely not least Ugly (Marlon Moore) all deserve special mention. Steven for his wicked performance of the nasty cat, Sharon’s mother duck nearly moved you to tears, Damian not only for his imaginative direction but also his comical Bullfrog. Finally Marlon his development from the ungainly ugly duckling into the elegant swan was a pleasure to watch and despite his sore throat a pleasure to listen to.
Sincere congratulations for an excellent show and I look forward to seeing you all again in other shows.
