New Rochelle High School Theatre Works’
based 16 miles outside New York
City presents its production of
‘Hair’ as part of the American High School Theatre Festival.
This is quite a large cast to bring over
for only four performances, I hope the kids enjoyed their
experience as much as I enjoyed the show.
With such a wealth of talent on the stage
I felt Berger, Stephen Fruchman’s singing voice did not live up
to his excellent acting ability. Claude, Andrew Keltz had a better
voice and his acting was good but his long wig made him look
comical. Unfortunately Hud, Samuel J. Jackson who has a superb
voice did not get much to sing and the comic genius of Michael
Grossman shone through all the different characters he played.
The leading girls have to be commended
for their voices, acting ability and looks, particularly, Nina
Dyer as Sheila and Jennifer Hoffman as Jeannie.
The overall spectacle of this show
provided a wonderful two hours entertainment.
