Cambridge
University ADC have been performing at the Fringe for almost as
long as I can remember and although I haven't seen all their
shows, the ones I have seen have all been well worth the time
spent doing so.
I
must admit I thought a musical about Joseph Stalin starting at
midnight might have been a little 'heavy', but I was pleasantly
surprised, This musical written and directed by James Stevens
though 'lightens' the darker side of this despot and there are
quite a lot of really funny moments, several dance numbers and
lyrical puns that would do Tim Rice proud.
Stalin,
Michael Hall, Mrs Stalin, Hannah Whittingham and Trotsky, James
Croft all sing well and are backed by a 'Revolutionary Chorus' of
eight and an excellent band.
So
for a late night Revolutionary romp an Evening with Joe Stalin the
Musical could be just the ticket for you.
