How
would it feel to be immortal?
This
is a subject that everyone strives towards with the use of anti
aging products, family and religion, but if this was achievable
would we really want it?
This
is the question tackled in this brand new musical comedy based on
the Bodyworks exhibition by Gunter Von Hagen, an interesting choice
of genre for what is potentially a very dark subject. But it works
and works very well.
The
action flits between the lounge of couch potato Arthur, and art
exhibition and the lab of evil genius Dr Integerss with an assortment
of dysfunctional characters narrating the fascinating,
occasionally almost pantomime like action all interspersed with
numerous original songs.
As
with most musicals there were some less outstanding than others
but the general standard was good. The level of vocal, ability
varied a little also, with Daniel Sherman as Arthur, Sarah Carter
as the 'heroine' Sally, Olivia Lipscombe as Angela and the evil Dr
Integer played by Daniel Page outstanding.
I
saw the opening night show so I expected a few gremlins, but they
were very few and I was particularly impressed by the costumes.
So
will the evil Doctor take over the world, will Arthur save the day
and will Sally scoop an exclusive and bag herself a man? For the
answer to these and more I would recommend you check it out for
yourself.
