The Antonio Forcione Quartet
Nokia Orange Assembly
There are many great guitarists in the world, and if you were to ask anyone to name a great guitarist they’d probably rattle off one of the following: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Mark Knopfler, and rightly so too.  The name of Antonio Forcione should be on that list.
I have seen plenty of people play the guitar.  Antonio Forcione “plays” the guitar.  He uses every part of the instrument, and can be his own percussion section.  However, this time he is backed up with another three musicians of supreme quality.
With a percussionist, cellist, and a rhythm guitarist (if they’re reading this then I apologise for not remembering their names) accompanying Antonio you could be forgiven for thinking that he will just concentrate on his guitar playing.  However, Mr Forcione has enough opportunity to showcase his mesmerising talents, whilst the other members are given a much-deserved respite.
This isn’t completely Antonio’s show though, as each of the others are given the opportunity to showcase their talents, be it going head-to-head with Antonio, or playing the lead instrument in the current composition.
Without a doubt, The Antonio Forcione Quartet is my highlight of the Fringe, and I defy anyone not to be impressed by the musicians on display.  Hopefully, I can catch it again before Tuesday as I can’t wait until next year, and I fear that the CDs that I bought after the show will have worn out by next August.
