One of the pleasures of the Fringe is
unexpectedly coming across an act which provides a gem of
entertainment.Such an act is folk duo Mac Polvo ( Euan Johnson and
Rory MacLeod) who appear under the banner of Abaddon's Music Fest.
Drawing on Scottish and Gaelic roots they
play a range of songs from Aberdeenshire to the Isles, and from Glasgow
to Dundee. There is an international aspect to their set with
songs drawn from the experiences of settlers to Canada and
Australia.
They are at ease with the slow haunting
melodies to the fast toe-tapping songs - 'The Banks of Fyvio' is a
rousing finale. With a high standard of musicianship maintained
throughout, it's worth giving this duo a visit.
