Noise Ensemble
This group of ten percussionists play a massive range of instruments in a varied fun way. This spectacular show features a wide range of musical styles from classical to rock, rhythm and blues to funk with many others mixed in for good measure. The lighting effects and clever use of pre-recorded footage of the band make the changes of instruments and setting up of next numbers as much part of the entertainment value of the show.
I didn’t even try to count the different sorts of instruments used, including the drumsticks themselves. The power of the beat can not only be heard but vibrates through every solid object in the hall and can be felt by feet, backs, bottoms and hands making this a truly all over experience. Yet it is not just the sounds that are spectacular but also the movements between the players and the various instruments, which seem to be well choreographed dance or fight scenes.
Part of me would like to experience the show on an outside stage with room to move to the beat.
