Otway and Barrett

Blue Grass meets Punk meets Rock & Roll. This variety, plus a couple of ballads, makes up the musical ingredients of Otway and Barrett’s act. John Otway, with 2 chart hits to his name, is the bouncy, exuberant singer/songwriter. All the songs are his compositions apart from a rocked up version of Rolf Harris’s ‘Two Little Boys’. Wild Willy Barrett, with one chart hit, is the backing musician who plays a variety of stringed instruments with ease, various guitars, banjo and fiddle.

Between the songs, there is a bit of banter, Otway’s exuberance contrasting with Barrett’s dead pan expression. They do have a history of breaking up and coming together again. The show is an entertaining hour with a duo who have been around the music scene for more than three decades. They proved they can still do the business.
