Although I have been aware of this company
attending the Fringe for a few years this was the first opportunity
for me to see them due to my normally over crowded schedule.
I an a lover of a cappella music and I had
never seen an ‘all-girl’ group of this ilk, previously all male
or mixed ensembles.
In the Pink are an eight strong group of
women from Oxford took to the stage wearing black tops an of course
pink skirts and over the next 50 minutes entertained their busy
audience with some wide and varied music, up tempo numbers were
predominant Jump as recorded by Sister Sledge opened proceedings, We
Will Rock You, It’s in His Kiss, Suddenly I See and their Abba
mega mix were just a few of the highlights. However the reworking of
some of the words for the Turtles ‘Happy Together’ brought peels
of laughter from one and all.
The vocal were shared amongst all, and they
all had very nice voices. At times however the sound was a little
thin. Most other groups I’ve seen have had more members, hence
more voices to fill out the sound and occasionally their movement
looked a little clumsy.
Still all in all a very pleasant show one
well worth checking out.
