Two birds is not a double act but two
ladies doing a separate stand up one after the other. First on is
Ayesha Haziraka, a second generation Scot of Indian Moslem descent
from Hamilton and looking like a cross between a young Felicity
Kendal and Nana Mouskouri. She relates humerous anecdotes from her
background, including her time at a posh Glasgow school for girls.
Indian middle class parents are the most pushy in terms of their
children's education. Indeed, the solution to under-achieving
pupils would be to farm them out to Indian mothers.
Second on is Zoe Lyons from Brighton.
Very sharp wit characterises her delivery as she pokes fun at show
jumpers and vegetarians. Her experiences as a waitress has
provided funny material, and she wouldn't have been the
waitress to take any liberties with.
The Two Birds know how to relate to and
work their audience to develop their humour. It is a pity,
however, that we didn't see them working together at
some point - perhaps that is something for the future.
