Britalian with Stefano Paolini
Some comedians have a natural quality in that they can strike up a rapid rapport with their audience within minutes of making their entrance. Stefano Paolini, a first time performer at the Fringe, has this quality. The bare and intimate setting of the of the Pleasance Attic encourages the feeling that he is talking to friends rather than playing to an audience.
His open and engaging personality develop a warm feeling that here is a performer who will make us laugh and he did not disappoint. His humour is based on his background of being a Londoner (Brixton) of Italian parentage with strong roots back in Italy. Consequently, there is an identity issue both for himself and those he comes into contact with.
Convincing impressions form the basis of his act. The mix is wide ranging, from family to media stars to politicians - but his Glaswegian needs working on. His tour de force is his portrayal of garage and rap music. Using two microphones he can produce amazing and complex sounds. His Italian rap is unique and very funny.
Cracking entertainment. Stefano is a fresh and welcome addition this year.
