It
was in 2002 when I first became aware of Lucy Porter. She was on
stage for only one minute in a 60 acts in 60 minutes show staged
at C Venue, but that minute was enough to persuade me to check out
her full show. I was not disappointed, and have made a point of
seeing her every year since.
Lucy
is a very talented comedienne, and despite her petite frame and
the fact that she looks about seventeen, has a massive personality
that totally fills the room. Her show this year centres on luck,
and there is an abundance of excellent material that is delivered
in that individual 'Lucy' style, complete with audio visuals a
real live raffle and even treats us all to a free sample of her
role in 'One flew over the Cuckoos Nest.'
Lucy
is so nice to her audience that they seem to empathize with her
and she is genuinely happy to chat with her paying public.
Although
the show is about Luck, she claims not to believe in it, and her
finale certainly puts her beliefs to the test.
However,
I'm sure luck doesn't come into it where she is concerned. Her
undoubted personality and talent and will certainly see this Angel,
with just enough Devil, soon achieve the superstar status she
deserves. I'm sure her packet audience would agree with a
paraphrase on the title
of the cult American Comedy ‘We Love Lucy’.
