There is never a dull moment with
The Sunday Defensive brand of comedy. The bespectacled duo are Jacob
Edwards, the smart gags man, and Phil Gilbert, the straight man.
There is a loose construct to
their flow of sketches. They can’t agree as to how their first meeting
took place and as a result their friendship is falling apart. They may
not make it to the end of the show together. There is a clever mix of
banter, the bizarre, ham acting and word play, from sausages to Santa
Claus. Heavy slices of dark
humour occur – simulated blood and guts. Their finale is a fast and
unexpected theatrical twist.
This is their debut at the Fringe. They have the writing and performing skills and how their comedy develops will be interesting.*** |
